The soprano, Marigona Qerkezi, won the first price in the opera competition in Milano

Prishtina, 30 November 2015 –The Kosovo born soprano, Marigona Qerkezi, triumphed among the competitors from around the world in an international opera competition held in Milano.

The ninth edition of the opera competition named after the legend of Italian opera Magda Olivero, was held from 24th to 28th November. Olivero, who died last year, was considered one of the greatest singers and actresses of the twentieth century along with Claudia Muzio and Maria Olivero Callas.

The evaluations of competitors are made by the jury composed from the prominent names of the world opera scene, chairing by Francesco Saverio Borreli, former chairman of the Milano Conservatory. Other jury members, who select Qerkezi as the winner, are Daniela Javarone, Renato Bonajuto, Cunico Nakagawa, Paolo Gavazzeni, Alberto Paloscia, Paolo Barbacini, Nicola Martinucci, etc.

In this competition were around 200 participants from all over the world. This is the sixth international award taken by the soprano, Qerkezi, in period November 2014- November 2015.

For Qerkezi, the first price in "Magda Olivero" is something special and it motivates her to continue further into the world scenes.
