A literary symposium and a solemn academy will be held in Gjilan to mark the 15th anniversary of passing away of poet, prose writer, essayist and screenwriter Beqir Musliu (Gjilan 1945-1996) and the literary prize “Beqir Musliu” will be awarded.

The literary symposium called “Beqir Musliu – emblem of modern Albanian literature” to be held in the Assembly Hall in Gjilan on Thursday 23 June starting at 10:00 is expected to gather literary researchers and critics from Kosovo, Albania and Macedonia, while the solemn academy will take place at the city theater in Gjilan on Friday, 24 June at 17:00, on which occasion, the literary prize “Beqir Musliu” will be awarded to this year’s winner, writer Ibrahim Kadriu (Zhegër, 1945), who writes for both children and adults and who has published over 40 literary works in poems, prose, drama, etc. 

Both the literary symposium and the solemn academy are open for creators and art lovers and other interested people.

This anniversary will be held under the auspices of the mayor of Gjilan and has been co-organized by the Ars-Club “Beqir Musliu” and Directorate for Culture, Youth and Sports of Gjilan.
